Sunday, Monday, Punday

from brightflashes at iconator.com
Listening to PYT by Michael Jackson (judge me all you want, that song's been stuck in my head all night.)
Craving a Big Mac. No idea why. It's probably a Chick-fil-A craving in disguise.
I admit, it's a little late for my Punday Post, but better late than never, right? So here are your puns of the week!
  • From a commercial advertising Wheel of Fortune Lottery Tickets: "It's the wheel deal!" Ha... Kind of lame, but I still laughed pretty hard.
  • At work tonight, we were all really hot because we were cleaning. I asked, "Is it hot in here or is it just me?" (No, that's not the pun.) One of my managers responded, "No, it's definitely hot." I commented, "Good, 'cause I'm not normally a sweater. ... Sometimes I'm a jacket." Right? Sweater? Jacket? Laugh, dangit!
  • "The surgeon failed to repair his own ruptured pericardium because his heart just wasn't in it." Found this one on a website for puns - www.punoftheday.com. I like it because it has that little morbid threat of death, which is always funny in a sort of sick way. :)

Hot Cross Puns

from sissykazam at iconator.com
Listening to People Watching by Jack Johnson. Go listen to this song now. It's so cute.
Laughing at my own pun-dividuality (okay, that one was a stretch...)
For anyone who knows me personally, you know that I am completely obsessed with puns. For those of you who don't (all five of you), here it is:
So I've decided to add a new weekly post, dedicated to the really terrible puns I make, and the ones I hear and laugh at like a crazy person. If you don't like puns, you don't have to read these posts, but I'm an English major, and I love words, and playing with them. So here are your first puns!
  • Three weeks ago, I had some friends visit me at work (at Panera Bread). I took a break to sit with them for a bit, but was worried that I'd be late when I got back on the clock, so I kept checking the time on my phone. My friend Caroline said I was "Paneranoid". Ha!
  • Yesterday, at work (again), I asked one of my managers how she was doing. She replied, "Oh, you know, another day in paradise." I added, "Yep, we're in Paneradise." Sorry I have a thing for playing with "Panera."
  • Today - surprise! - at work, I bagged up a pecan sticky roll and a pumpkin muffin top for a customer. I put them in separate baggies explaining, "The pecan rolls don't play nice with other pastries; they have a bit of a nutty temperament." Ha!! Yay.
There you have it! The puns of the week! Hope you at least managed a chuckle. If not - loosen up!
Thanks to Haley for the punny post idea. I'm on a roll, here.

Summer in the South

from Shay002 at iconator.com
Listening to Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae (I swear, greatest song to happen to me this summer. May or may not have been listening to this on repeat for the last six days.)
Missing Coco Bean the Marine. Sounds like a tough guy, right?
Summer in Georgia is boring. Like driving down I-16 from Macon to Statesboro with a broken radio boring. Especially when you have to save your money. If you have money to throw around, there are plenty of things to do (e.g. take trips, go to theme parks, buy every season of How I Met Your Mother), but if not, your options are very limited.
In light of this fact, I thought I'd share the ways I've been entertaining myself (and could potentially entertain myself) on a low budget.
  1. Continuing to edit my book. There have been a few setbacks and downers, but I'm determined to finish, even if the possibility of publishing looks grim.
  2. Buying cheap string from Michael's and making awesome bracelets that cost way less than the popular ones in stores. (Since when did the stuff I could make in fifth grade start selling for thirteen bucks?)
  3. Reading new books. Can't wait for this one. (Okay so this one isn't always cheap, but if you ask me, it's a better use of my money than a one-time theme park ticket.)
  4. Finding a cool spot from which to watch a sunset. Take pictures.
  5. Hanging out with friends.
  6. Writing letters - to people and things.
  7. Watching old animated Disney movies - c'mon, I know you have them all on VHS. Dig out the VCR and enjoy them, fuzzy picture and all.
  8. Watching a bunch of trailers on IMDB and making lists of what upcoming movies I want to see. What? I like lists.
So there you go. Eight ways to entertain yourself during a boring summer in the south. I wish I had more, but truth be told, I'm about as bored as you are!
