Hot Cross Puns

from sissykazam at iconator.com
Listening to People Watching by Jack Johnson. Go listen to this song now. It's so cute.
Laughing at my own pun-dividuality (okay, that one was a stretch...)
For anyone who knows me personally, you know that I am completely obsessed with puns. For those of you who don't (all five of you), here it is:
So I've decided to add a new weekly post, dedicated to the really terrible puns I make, and the ones I hear and laugh at like a crazy person. If you don't like puns, you don't have to read these posts, but I'm an English major, and I love words, and playing with them. So here are your first puns!
  • Three weeks ago, I had some friends visit me at work (at Panera Bread). I took a break to sit with them for a bit, but was worried that I'd be late when I got back on the clock, so I kept checking the time on my phone. My friend Caroline said I was "Paneranoid". Ha!
  • Yesterday, at work (again), I asked one of my managers how she was doing. She replied, "Oh, you know, another day in paradise." I added, "Yep, we're in Paneradise." Sorry I have a thing for playing with "Panera."
  • Today - surprise! - at work, I bagged up a pecan sticky roll and a pumpkin muffin top for a customer. I put them in separate baggies explaining, "The pecan rolls don't play nice with other pastries; they have a bit of a nutty temperament." Ha!! Yay.
There you have it! The puns of the week! Hope you at least managed a chuckle. If not - loosen up!
Thanks to Haley for the punny post idea. I'm on a roll, here.

Summer in the South

from Shay002 at iconator.com
Listening to Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae (I swear, greatest song to happen to me this summer. May or may not have been listening to this on repeat for the last six days.)
Missing Coco Bean the Marine. Sounds like a tough guy, right?
Summer in Georgia is boring. Like driving down I-16 from Macon to Statesboro with a broken radio boring. Especially when you have to save your money. If you have money to throw around, there are plenty of things to do (e.g. take trips, go to theme parks, buy every season of How I Met Your Mother), but if not, your options are very limited.
In light of this fact, I thought I'd share the ways I've been entertaining myself (and could potentially entertain myself) on a low budget.
  1. Continuing to edit my book. There have been a few setbacks and downers, but I'm determined to finish, even if the possibility of publishing looks grim.
  2. Buying cheap string from Michael's and making awesome bracelets that cost way less than the popular ones in stores. (Since when did the stuff I could make in fifth grade start selling for thirteen bucks?)
  3. Reading new books. Can't wait for this one. (Okay so this one isn't always cheap, but if you ask me, it's a better use of my money than a one-time theme park ticket.)
  4. Finding a cool spot from which to watch a sunset. Take pictures.
  5. Hanging out with friends.
  6. Writing letters - to people and things.
  7. Watching old animated Disney movies - c'mon, I know you have them all on VHS. Dig out the VCR and enjoy them, fuzzy picture and all.
  8. Watching a bunch of trailers on IMDB and making lists of what upcoming movies I want to see. What? I like lists.
So there you go. Eight ways to entertain yourself during a boring summer in the south. I wish I had more, but truth be told, I'm about as bored as you are!

    Letters to Inanimate Objects 6/18

    from serendipity_02 on iconator.com
Listening to I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) by the Proclaimers on repeat. HIMYM reference. Whaddup?
It's official! My best friend Corey is now a marine!
By the way, those exclamation points are completely deceptive. I have never been more worn out in my life. See, on Thursday morning at 2:45 am, I made my way to the Richter household for the longest road trip of my life. We were driving down to Parris Island to for Family Day on Thursday and to see Corey graduate on Friday. He left on March 21 for boot camp and I promised him and myself that I wouldn't miss his graduation for the world.
And I am not a morning person, so 2:45 am is major dedication. ha ha. Anyways, I had to drive down instead of riding with Daddy Richter because his car was full - his fiancee Kelli, her daughter Amanda, her son Tyler, and his friend Caius, who also wants to be a marine. Corey's brother Brett, one of my close friends, had to ride in my car (and despite what he tells you, I did not almost kill him four times. Maybe once). The trip was insane, and totally awesome because of the sleep deprivation factor. We got there just in time to see the little ceremony before Family Day officially started. We got to spend about five hours with Coco before his liberty was over, then sort of got in trouble for being on an obstacle course (not me - it was Daddy Richter and Corey's Uncle Rick - be careful when those two are together!).
I also shared a hotel room with Brett, who snored and moaned all night. It was pretty hysterical, but did keep me awake. Then yesterday was Corey's graduation. We sat facing the sun, so I got a good tan goin' while we watched the ceremony. So proud of our Marine!!
Here are a few letters inspired by the trip:
    Dear Pretzel M&Ms,
You're the greatest thing man has every invented. I want to dive into a pool filled with you. That almost sounds painful, but completely worth it. My obsession with you is borderline unhealthy. In fact, not having any in my house right now is kind of freaking my out. It's either withdrawal or separation anxiety... or both.
    Dear Adorable Nude Heels,
I am so happy I found you. Your kitten heel is perfect, and you're super comfy for being half a size too small. Just remind me not to trek across Parris Island - or the equivalent distance anywhere else - in you ever again. My right pinky toe is now one huge blister. Cute.
    Dear Coco,
You aren't inanimate (although with how dead tired you are right now, you can see how I got confused). I love you so much, and I'm so proud of you. You can't even imagine. Thinking about you as a marine kind of throws me off, but I'm so proud to say that my best friend is a marine. Even though you can't make your awesome raptor noise anymore because you broke your vocal chords by yelling for three months, I still love you. As long as you can still call me a "stupid bitch." (Pardon the french. Watch the video. So funny, and Corey can imitate it perfectly!)
